16 Aug BASKETBALL: WSSBL Premier competition heating up for finals
The Waikato Secondary School Premier Basketball competition is well under. Only last week our top two teams at the midway stage of the Boys Premier competition, St Johns College and Rotorua Boys High went head to head to battle for the top spot. At half time they had a very close score line of 38 – 34 in favour of Rotorua after St Johns skipped out to an initial lead in the first quarter. St Johns College managed comeback strong in the final quarter to defeat Rotorua and take out the win with a final score of 77-68. Both teams got into foul territory in the early quarters resulting in a very long and close game. We look forward to watching the rest of the competition unfold and see who takes that top spot in the finals in September.
