Athletic events are held in each region in conjunction with Waikato/BOP Athletics and Waikato /BOP Secondary School Athletics Association.

The WaiBop Secondary Schools Athletics Association stage events in Summer – Track and Field and Winter – Cross Country supported by Sport Waikato and Sport BOP.

Schools are encouraged to hold their school Athletics and Cross Country days prior to the zone events for their area.

Students who are selected to represent their school compete at their regions zone athletics day.

The regions include:

  • Central Zone (All Hamilton, Cambridge and Morrinsville Schools)
  • Thames Valley ( including Coromandel, Thames Valley and Piako)
  • Mid Island (South Waikato district)
  • King Country  and North West Waikato Cluster Schools
