Tony Rogers | Secondary Schools Executive Sport  Director 

In July 2017 Tony Rogers was appointed to the newly instigated role as Executive Sports Director by Sport Waikato in partnership with the Waikato Secondary Schools Sports Association Incorporated [WSSSA] to lead the Association and Sport Waikato to develop Youth sport and recreation activities in the Secondary School sector.

Tony had previously spent five years as Director of Sport at New Zealand’s largest secondary school, Rangitoto College. Tony is originally a teacher and elite athlete from the Waikato and an alumni student of Fairfield College.

He spent time living and working in Wellington for Athletics NZ as High Performance Manager and in the education sector as Academic Manager for NZ Institute of Sport, a private tertiary education provider.

Abigail Whiu | Secondary Schools  Sport Development Officer

In May 2018 Abigail Whiu was appointed to the role of Secondary Schools Development Officer. The role is primarily to fulfil the Regional Sport Director’s role in the Secondary Schools team.

Abigail has been the  Director of Sport at Avondale College in Auckland, a very large and culturally diverse Co-ed secondary school in West Auckland. She is a graduate of Auckland University in Sport and Recreation. She has a strong sporting background within her family and is actively involved in a number of sporting codes across individual and team sports, managing and coaching teams from local through to regional and international representation.

Abigail also has a background in Event Management having worked in programmes in Student Life and Sport Development and Athlete Support at AUT University.

Kelsey Abbott | Secondary Schools  Sport Administrator

 

Kelsey was appointed as the Secondary Schools administrator in November 2019.
Kelsey is from Cambridge and was a former Cambridge High pupil. Her recent work experience has been in retail working in sales, management and an administrator for the senior management team. She also supports her partners Avoca Racing stables business with administration, accounts, marketing and promotion through social media.

Sport has always been a huge passion for Kelsey who is an active sportswoman playing Premier Netball with the Tom Voyle Park Sports Club.  She was a Premier basketballer at Cambridge High School and still currently plays squash and boxing. Kelsey also has a strong interest in photography as a hobby alongside horse riding.
