14 Sep Alert Level 2 & 3 Split Level Decision
Waikato Secondary Schools Sport Association (WSSSA) – No Spectators at Level 2 & 3 Split DECISION
In light of the split-level situation the Waikato region is currently in, the WSSSA Executive Committee has advised the following regarding the commencement of Term 4 Summer sport:
- when the Waikato region returns to Level 2 all Term 4 sport can continue under existing Level 2 guidelines, which includes NO SPECTATORS.
- while the Waikato region remains in split levels:
- Competitions involving participants from schools in both Level 2 & Level 3 – competition does not take place or begin
- Competitions involving participants from schools all in Level 2 – competition can commence under existing Level 2 guidelines, which includes NO SPECTATORS
NB NO SPECTATORS rationale: It remains a difficult proposition for schools to supervise and ensure physical distancing in sporting environments. Longer term, there is still uncertainty about what the mandatory vaccination decision for the Health & Disability Sector and Education Sector means for sport and those who spectate, work or volunteer in school sport.
