06 Dec Hamilton Boys High take Double success at Condor National Sevens
Hamilton Boys High School continued to show its strength as dominant rugby school with victory in the National Sevens championships defending their title over the weekend at the Condors Sevens claimed at Sacred College in Auckland. Hamilton beat the hosts in the semi-final after dispatching Timaru Boys in the quarterfinals. Arch rival Rotorua Boys were the finals opponent which they defeated 22 – 14. Hauraki Plains College, St Peters School Cambridge and Cambridge High School were other Waikato regional representatives at the tournament.
Boys High School doubled up in the titles with success in the Under 15 Boy’s championship following a similar pattern to their seniors. They defeated Sacred Heart in the quarters and Kings College in the semi-finals before overcoming Rotorua Boys 12 – 7 in the final.
Hamilton Girls High missed defending their title in the women’s division by losing out to Howick College in the final 12 – 24 in a very physical and fast paced match. They had a successful day one winning all pool matches which secured them a quarter final against Gisborne Girls High who they defeated 20 -12. Next, they pushed aside the strong Manukura High School in the semi-finals by 38 – 10 before meeting Howick in the final. Putaruru College Girls team lost to Christchurch Girls in the Cup quarter final, then losing to St Mary’s College in the plate semis during their post section matches. Waikato Diocesan lost their post pool match to Wesley College and bowl consolation to Manurewa High. Cambridge High Girls lost to Wainuiomata in their Shield semi-final after a bye in the first stage of post section. The Hamilton Girls Under 15 were fortunate enough to take out the Bowl final winning 29-28 against Trident!

Two Hamilton Boys players were named as representatives in the 14 man Youthtown Condor NZ Secondary School Sevens Boys team. They will represent the Condor Rugby Football Club in the World Schools Sevens at Pakuranga Rugby Club Friday, December 14th & Saturday 15th 2018. Named were Daniel Sinkinson (Hamilton Boys) and Cortez-Lee Ratima (Hamilton Boys).
